Treble ConeTreble Cone is the largest ski area in the South Island with plenty of exhilarating skiing and snowboarding terrain. Spread over three large basins there are trails to suit all ages and abilities, along with spectacular views across Lake Wanaka and Mount Aspiring. From the purpose built learner area, long groomed beginner and intermediate trails, the challenging advanced runs and ungroomed powder, there is plenty for everyone. With a new 6-seater chairlift in the saddle basin, significantly more lift accessed terrain was opened in winter 2005, including 45 hectares of intermediate terrain. With the new up-town café and bar facilities, more groomed terrain with new winch grooming equipment and a huge sun-deck that sprawls out from the base lodge, it’s a hard day to beat. Renowned for legendary powder and plenty of it, Treble Cone receives an average annual snowfall of 5.5metres. Its proximity to the Southern Alps means reliable snow conditions and weather, and its geography means it is protected from southerly winds. There are numerous natural half-pipes on the upper mountain, fantastic off-piste and free riding, plus a man-made Terrain Park. The ski area is located an easy 35 minute drive from Wanaka or there are daily bus services leaving from the Edgewater Resort.
